About Pat Connor As a civil
engineer with a background in gas pipeline and road construction he
brings a
wealth of practical knowledge to issues around roadside vegetation
management
and reinstatement. As a
qualified environmental consultant from the inaugural Melbourne
University
Conservation and Land Management Course, he is a pioneer in the field
of
sustainable environmental management of roadside wildlife corridors,
biolinks
and remnant indigenous vegetation. He initiated training with
the
Roadside
Conservation Committee and has worked widely across Victoria and New
South
Wales at every level of government, with numerous Landcare
organisations and
with various community stakeholders. He offers a
range of consultancy services, from comprehensive ‘minimal impact’
training
workshops for management, staff, contractors and road crews at local
council level,
to the
writing of roadside management strategies around works practices,
environmental
values and sound knowledge of relevant legislation. Pat combines
the practicality of engineering and the core commitment to
environmental
sustainability in his conviction that there is always a holistic and
ecologically satisfying solution to even the most intractable problem.
His down
to earth presentation style and his wealth of knowledge distinguish him
as a
sound negotiator with excellent people skills. In establishing and
coordinating
the ground-breaking Coliban to Cobaw Biolinks Project, Pat took pride
in the
fact that he personally negotiated the pledging of private land in a
PPP of historic importance in the field of environmental
sustainability in Victoria. Pat will
often quote a simple core concept at his training courses. Trees can’t read. In other words, if we
can’t translate all our
theoretical knowledge into a sustainable environmental outcome then we
are
failing on every level. Whether it be the environmental benefits of
vehicle
wash down, containment of worksites and minimal impact alternatives, or
the
recognition and protection of fragile indigenous flora and fauna, Pat
Connor is
an environmental consultant with an innovative approach, a trusted
track record
and a sustainable roadside solution to your problem. |
